Cursor Stuck and Won't Move At All

Evan Davis

I have restarted my computer many times and the cursor is still stuck in the middle of the screen. I HAVE inserted a USB mouse and it DOES work, but I am looking for a way (if possible) to fix the cursor.

You are welcome. I would go to Walmart, Best Buy or go online and buy you another mouse so you will have one for each computer. It looks like if those shortcuts I told you to try didn't work that your touchpad has just stopped working altogether due to the age of the laptop.

I unplugged the mouse I was using for my ASUS laptop and connected it to my Toshiba laptop and the cursor immediately moved by using the mouse. It is working again! Thank you so much for your suggestion.

I will check out these options and get back with you.

Also if you plug in an external mouse does your cursor move with it?

Hold down the Fn key on your keyboard and press the F9 key. If that doesn't work, here is a link with other options to try.

Model number is PSLB8U - 0D8038 (Satellite L305-S5915 System Unit). Sticker was on bottom of laptop.

I need the model of the laptop as each Toshiba can vary. There should be a sticker on the laptop that says the model # or it'll be above or near the keyboard in letters.

It is a Toshiba laptop with Vista operating system.

What brand and model laptop do you have?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you--busy day! The keys on my laptop are all white lettering. Found the fn key. Not sure which other icon key you talk about--maybe the F9? Held down both the fn and the F9 and cursor still not moved.

You may have accidentally disabled the touchpad on the laptop. Check the fn keys that are a different color either on the number keys or above them and look for a touchpad icon and hold down the fn key and press it. See if that turns it back on.

Started my Toshiba Laptop (Vista program--it's an old computer but I have not used it that much--have a second laptop that is newer). It turned on just fine but my cursor will not move from near the margin at near the top, left side of the screen. I almost threw my shoe at the screen. Help! Is this a "terminal" situation? No pun intended. The old mouse was not working so I had been manually browsing, if that had anything to do with it.
